I just finished reading The Shack, my second of a long list of books I want to read this summer! It came highly recommended by three people I know. There were parts I thought a bit cheesy, or a little fluffy, and it only focused on portraying certain attributes of God's character, yet there was something so amazing and refreshing about reading this book. It created a desire for spending time with the Lord to cultivate the relationship I have with Him, a thankfulness that He wants to have that relationship with me, and an excitement to be a part of what and who He is. I liked being reminded that we do many things out of ritual and not for the true meaning, and that we have so many preconceived ideas. I'm sure that for some people this might be too outside the box, but I enjoyed stretching my mind and thoughts as well as refining what I think and believe. There is one part of the story that gave me goosebumps. In that chapter, Jesus enters and is truly the KING. You can't help but be excited that you KNOW Him!

Galen and I just finished the Shack too. We both really loved it. I think I felt every emotion while reading it and there were times when I just wanted to put it down because some parts were too hard to read, but overall it was one of the best books I have read. I agree that it gives you such a longing for deep relationship with the Lord...He is so good! Have a great week!
