My,My....How Things Change

Remember my very first blog? In my skimpy pajamas with a jacket only for modesty? Well, this is what I look like now when I take Sadie out to go in blizzard conditions! My ski pants, ski jacket, and hiking boots. After two days of snow, it comes up to my thighs when I am trudging through it so Sadie can find the right "spot" and then you hear me saying, "Sadie.... go. Go Sadie. GO!" I have seriously contemplated training Sadie to "go" in the bathtub....but she looks at me really funny whenever I suggest it. But, we have survived The Blizzard of 'o6, which is what they are calling it on the news. My flight to go home was cancelled on Wednesday, which is a bummer, but I am thankful that I found out at home and wasn't stranded at the airport like so many other people. Then, my flight that I was rebooked on for today was cancelled. They said the next available flight was on the 25th leaving Denver at 8:44 PM. I almost cried. But my brother is a genius and suggested I look for flights out of Omaha since Denver is overloaded with rebooking two and half days of flights. So tomorrow I am driving with Heidi's sister Steph to Nebraska, spending the night with the Madisons, and then on the 24th David is driving me to Omaha (what a great brother!) so I can catch my Southwest flight that gets me in at 4:30 PM.....and amazingly, all for only $135. This is definitely one of those times where things are not going the way I had planned, but I am so thankful for the way that many of the details have worked out. There are still people stranded at DIA sleeping on the hard floor for two nights. If my flight had been a little bit earlier that could have been me. Instead, I snuggled with Sadie, drank hot cocoa, watched movies on my couch, and slept in my bed while I was snowed in. I will make it home for Christmas, get to see fun people on my detour, and all in all, things aren't really that bad, are they?
